Partial or complete deficiencies of any of the enzymes involved cause inadequate testosterone synthesis and may lead to inadequate vinlisation, resulting in male pseudohermaphroditism. The severity of the condition depends on the enzyme concerned. A deficiency of the enzymes P450scc, or P450l7a, or 3b-HSD is also associated with adrenal hyperplasia
